"My Daughter
came from me,
but she is not like me.
Instead I wish to be like her.

Brazen and bold,
fearless too.
She does not know about shrinking. She is untamed and wild in a flawed world.

Being alive is a reason to smile, a person passing is a reason to wave, having a voice is a reason to shout.
She talks to everyone when we’re out.

It is hard to match such unbridled joy,
and so,
when her outstretched hand falls, I cheer even louder.
I sweep in and tell her
to never change.

That she is not too much
that the world will adjust.

I’d leap off a mountain to catch her spirit should it fall.
Maybe we’re not so different after all."
